Pop up exhibition: Questions Shape Realities

The artwork

The work is a woven tapestry that visualizes sound. The round part of the motif at the bottom shows the sound of a two-hour group meeting in The Alternative’s premises at Christiansborg. The upper part shows questions asked by five different politicians. It is woven so precisely that it is phonetically possible to discern what is being said. Background noise in the form of scraping chairs, coffee cups, and conversation is also woven into it. The small ball with the bells is part of the work. Every time a participant was to speak during the meeting, the ball had to be thrown to them. The small silver threads seen in the work represent the sound of the bells on the ball.

The work is placed in The Alternative’s premises at Christiansborg, and kindly on loan from there.

The artist Arendse Krabbe

Arendse Krabbe is an artist, educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where she is also based. In her artistic practice, Arendse Krabbe explores hierarchies of power and structures through collaborative projects that often incorporate sound, video, performance, and text.
