Thursday Bar: Quarter to Weekend x Museum of Copenhagen

Settle into the weekend mood early in the Museum of Copenhagen’s charming courtyard — you bring the vibes, we’ll provide the rest!

Enjoy a smooth jazz session with the Rasmus Kjærsgaard Trio – “Tricotism”, chilled beer and wine, savoury snacks – and if your perfect weekend includes a cultural touch, join one of the 30-minute guided tours (in Danish) of our current exhibition The Sound of Copenhagen.

Tours start at 17:30, 18:00, and 18:30. Hear the evolving sounds of the city as our guide shares how Copenhagen’s soundscape has changed through time. Who knows – maybe you’ll hear the city in a whole new way?

Admission to both the jazz concert and the guided tours is free.

Line-up: Rasmus Kjærsgaard – saxophone, Pelle Von Bülow – guitar, Tomas Raae – bass.

A tribute to Copenhagen’s jazz legacy
During the 1950s and 60s, jazz legends from around the world flocked to Copenhagen. Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Oscar Pettiford and others made the city their home, inspiring a vibrant jazz scene that continues to this day. Rasmus Kjærsgaard, who composed jazz music for the TV series The New Nurses, leads the trio in a celebration of 1950s-style chamber jazz – think jitterbug dancing and swinging bebop. This is jazz as it once lived: close, expressive, and full of life.
