Experience genuine Christmas ‘hygge’ at the Museum of Copenhagen

Free Christmas jazz, Christmas shopping and probably the best mulled wine in the city

The museum's exquisitely decorated building from 1894 is made for Christmas activities: Enjoy the beautiful halls on your way through the history of the Danish capital, listen to free Christmas jazz and experience the Danish poster artist Ib Antonis' Christmas decorations on the large Christmas tree. Shop special Copenhagen gifts in the store and treat yourself and those you love with homemade glögg (mulled wine) and the most delicious homemade cakes.

The museum is open every day at 9:00-18:00, free access to both the café and shop.

Christmas jazz with Rasmus Kjærsgaard - NB! Free access

Thursday 7 December at 17:00-20:00 you can listen to jazz when the Museum of Copenhagen and Café Spirrevippen get a musical visit from Rasmus Kjærsgaard & Trio. Meet the Copenhageners while listening to New Orleans jazz, Ellington and bebop. Various forms of world music may appear too. The concert is for free and takes place in the museum's café. No registration required, just show up.

Christmas tree with Ib Antoni's creations

Enjoy poster artist Ib Antoni's beautiful and colorful creations as Christmas decorations on the large Christmas tree in the hall. See also the museum's special exhibition about his posters from the golden age of Danish design from the 1950s to the 1970s at a time when he was known all over the world.

Christmas shopping at the museum

The museum shop offers nostalgic Christmas decorations, e.g. with Ib Antoni mid-1900s motives, and here you can find a selection of gifts representing Copenhagen's history and special architecture.

Enjoy homemade mulled wine and the Christmas cakes in the café

Throughout December, you can treat yourself and others with home-baked Danish style Christmas cakes and glögg, based on red wine, Port and Cuban rum and added with our own spice mix - maybe the best glögg in town? Try it yourself! Enjoy it all in the cozy café or in the Christmas-decorated courtyard in front of the museum. Café Spirrevippen is open at 9:00-17:00 and has free access.
