Summer at the Museum of Copenhagen

Interesting history - home made goodies

Experience Copenhagen's history at the Museum of Copenhagen. From the first Ice Age hunters to the earliest traces of the city from the Viking Age, long before the city’s “founder” Bishop Absalon. Through plagues and fires to the present-day Christiania. Discover the 600-year-old shipwreck, get face-to-face to a medieval warrior's skeleton, and see the huge key to the former Western gate. A visit to the Museum of Copenhagen’s beautiful building is like a walk through the city and history. The exhibition is built around 14 highlights from the city, from Slotsholmen to Bispebjerg. The many carefully selected stories, artifacts from the past, and interactive installations bring you close to both the present and the past.

Enjoy beautiful photos from Bistro Trekanten on Amager in the new exhibition about the city's small, quirky shops and businesses. Play a game of "Guess which shop" in the exhibition and design your own shop using paper, colours and scissors in the creative corner of our Café area.

With the free "Children's Guide" in hand, you can experience the exhibition of Copenhagen’s history through children’s eyes – and it’s not boring to hear their comments on ancient things like a wig from the 1700s, a drinking horn, and a rotary dial phone... You can get a copy of the Children's Guide at the ticket counter.

Everyone can join a city walk around the capital’s beautiful squares and narrow streets in the footsteps of Christian IV, where we hear the story of the Round Tower and the now-burned Stock Exchange- Tours in English are offered on Fridays from Juli 19th to August 30th - book your tickets via the webshop:
