Practical information


Corona information

You have to show a corona pass in the entrance. Distance markers and hand sanitizers have been placed around the museum.


Opening hours

The museum is open every day  9:00-18:00.
On Thursdays from 9:00-21:00.
The museum is closed on December 24th., 25th. and January 1st.

Shop and Urban Garden

The shop and urban garden are open during museum opening hours - daily from 9:00-18:00 and Thursdays until 21:00 and are both free to visit.


The archaeological workshop

The archaeological workshop at Stormgade 20 right next to the museum, is open for the public every Saturday and Sunday 10:00-14:00 and during holidays.
The entrance fee for the workshop is the same as for the museum and gives access to both. You can find the prices below.


Ticket prices

Buy your ticket at the museum reception or at our webshop.
Adults: 90 DKK.
Free entry for everyone under 18.
Group discount of 10% (minimum group of 10).
N.B. To be eligible for a group discount groups are to arrive together.
Annual pass: 180 DKK.
Free entry on Wednesdays. Expect crowds!
Your ticket is valid for 48 hours for the Museum of Copenhagen, Thorvaldsen's Museum, and the Archeological Workshop, which is open on weekends and during holidays.
Ticket sales close 30 minutes before the museum closes.
The shop and urban garden can all be visited free of charge.

Getting to the Museum

The museum is a short 5-minute walk from the City Hall Square (Metro M3) and a 10-minute walk from Copenhagen Central Station. We recommend you tak public transport, cycle or walk.

Packed Lunches and Drinks

You are welcome to enjoy a packed lunch in the urban garden in front of the museum entrance. No food or drinks are allowed in the exhibitions.


Prams and Pushchairs

The museum has a limited number of pushchairs visitors can borrow. These are the only prams or pushchairs allowed in the exhibitions.


Baby Changing Facilities

There are baby changing facilities in two toilets in the basement - one in each wing.


Group Visits

Discounts: Groups of at least 10 people get a 10% discount on their tickets.
Good times and days to visit: Since a lot of schools visit in the mornings, afternoons are the best time to visit. Guided tours can be booked on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Guided tours: Guided tours can be booked by writing to NK8N@kk.dk. Each guided tour can have up to 25 participants.
Tours with your own guide: Groups with their own guide are welcome as long as you send a mail to NK8N@kk.dk at least a week before your visit. We recommend not to plan any group visits at the museum on Wednesdays.

Terms and Conditions - Private Guided Tours
Participants: Maximum 25 people.
Price: Weekdays 975 DKK + entry.
Booking: Private guided tours are to be booked at least 14 days in advance.
Payment: Payment for guided tours is made at the time of booking.
Cancellations: Cancellations made with less than 14 days' notice will not be refunded.


Photos

You are welcome to take photographs in the museum and share them on Instagram at #museumofcopenhagen. The use of tripods and extra lightning is not allowed. Commercial photography requires special permission. You can find more information here.

Free WIFI is available throughout the museum building.

Entrance to the museum - elevator: There is a lift from street level for wheelchair users and level-free access and elevators throughout the museum. Key for the lift in front of the museum please contact the Information or call +4521764366
Helpers: We offer free entry to those accompanying visually impaired visitors and wheelchair users.
Guide dogs: Guide dogs are welcome at the museum.
Toilet facilities: There are toilets with wheelchair access in both wings of the basement.
Accessibility Label Scheme: The museum is registered under the Accessibility Label Scheme.
